There really is no one else like Shannon Noll. The five time ARIA No. 1 Chart Awards winner is unashamedly a true blue Aussie and as evident through his new music video ‘Who I am’, is sticking true to his roots.

With lyrics such as “kicking off  a new day, gonna do it my way,” Noll’s new song hits all the heart strings of a charismatic and edge of your seat track. Whether it connects with the mainstream public will remain to be seen but we’re rooting for him.

There is little doubt that Noll’s true believers will be mesmerised and lose themselves in the song. A reflection of his country upbringing, it’s primed to resonate with hundreds of thousands of Australians who call the bush home.

With the exception of Lee Kernaghan and the late Slim Dusty, there are arguably no other recording artists who are so proud to call Australia home. His love of the country life, his affinity with Holden utes and his laid back demeanour all present Noll as one of a kind.

How different might his life had been if he had won Australian Idol back in 2003. Guy Sebastian, the eventual winner, has since been a host on the X Factor, represented Oz at Eurovision 2015 and has had a string of inconsistent yet catchy singles.

We can only dream.

Comparatively Noll has done it the only way he knows how – the hard way. Selling out country pubs, suburban nightclubs and all things in between, his status as one of Australia’s favourite sons has only grown.

‘Who I am’ is the first single from Noll’s fifth studio album, due for release in early 2017.
